287. photos framed.

This is kind of a lame thing to post about, but for lack of anything better (i worked ALOT this week and am heading out to a wedding in an hour) – this is about as crafty as I got today. I chose the photos and put them in the frames. Now this wall collection is complete!

230. new address plate.

The newly painted door has gotten me obsessed with making the outside of our house look more like us. The address plate that came with the house was white with gold numbers. (you can kind of see it in the linked photo)  I tried to spraypaint the numbers black, but we didn’t have the right kind of screws to put them back into the plate, and I realized that the plate itself was ugly and I hated the typeface of the numbers (I’m a graphic designer – i’m picky!). Ive been searching all over the internet (mostly etsy) to find a new address plate. The one I really want is $225. The other one that I really liked is around $100, and I would have to figure out how to get it drilled into the bricks, which I wasn’t too excited about having to do. So I went to home depot with the intention to just buy some numbers to stick on our mailbox for the time being but ended up finding these numbers that I kind of liked. I wandered over to the wood section, and found this piece of wood in a cart of scraps (so they let me have it for free!) The numbers were $1.50 each, and I already had screw hooks from this project.  A kind home depot employee helped me find some wood screws, and it seemed I had everything I needed to make this happen. Came home and put this all together, and it was really simple – all for under $10! I was also able to utilize the hooks that were already in place, so I didnt have to do any drilling into the brick.  I think its a HUGE improvement from what was there previously, don’t you think?!

Now onto replacing that ugly porch light….and to do something about that mail box.  I’m thinking of painting it…black maybe?

Just a little update on the house….

My friend Jesse is amazing and made made us this dining table and delivered it this week! I sent him some ideas a whole back and we back and forth on this is what he came up with. It’s so perfect. I ordered the hairpin legs from a site online. I would love to get original Herman miller chairs, but settled for these three knock offs. I’m hoping to stumble across some originals at a garage sale or the thrift store some day. I know it’s a stretch but you never know. Someone I know found an eames rocker at a garage sale for $5 once, so you never know!! a girl can always dream, right?!

Anyway, it’s still a work in progress. We need to hang artwork and get seating for the other side of the table. Jesse is going to also build us a bench.
We’re thinking of possibly painting that one wall in front of the table. Not sure yet….And in that second photo, you can see the fireplace – we just realized we need some kind of mantle there and I want to get some new tile, so THAT in iteslef is a project we can hopefully start soon! Anyone know how to hang tile??

The last photo is part of the kitchen. Pretty happy with it as is. We have lots of storage and counter space.  I really wanted to do a backsplash, and this already came with one. Its probably not the colors I would have chosen, but itll do. Dont forsee the need to redo something that doesnt look too bad. Im loving that they painted it teal. And the cabinet pulls are these little crystal balls. Dont think I would have had the guts to pick them, but I’m kind of glad they did. At about 5pm, the light shine through and they make pretty little shapes and rainbows all over. I love the window in front of the sink. Hoping to make a curtain one of these days. I love the big fridge and dishwasher! And water dispenses out of the fridge. THAT is a huge bonus. The oven is electric, which I’m not THRILLED about, but I’m getting used to it.

So that’s what we’ve been working on the past few weeks. There will be lots more to come!
