169. instagram coasters.

Since we got a new table, I figured we could use some coasters. I have seen ways to take scrapbook paper and adhere them to tiles and make coasters, but I did this using some instagram photos. I always print a bunch, and then I don’t really do anything with them because I can’t really find frames. This was so easy and I loved how it turned out!

I print my photos using scrapbookpictures.com, and while writing this post realized they closed this year. They printed 4×4 photos for about 12 cents a piece! Bummer. Good thing I had a stash of photos previously printed…

I went to Home Depot this morning and got some of these 4.25×4.25 ceramic tiles for 13 cents a piece. I adhered the photos to the tiles using mod podge, then used a sponge brush and brushed it over the top of the photo as well. I let it dry and did one more coat to make sure everything was good and sealed. I  got a package of little felt pads for the bottoms for $3 and stuck these to the bottom of each one.

I think I could buy a little photo hook and put it on the back and use these tiles to display the photos on the wall. These would also make really great gifts! And they were so inexpensive, I could easily make more and swap them out as I take new photos!

Just a little update on the house….

My friend Jesse is amazing and made made us this dining table and delivered it this week! I sent him some ideas a whole back and we back and forth on this is what he came up with. It’s so perfect. I ordered the hairpin legs from a site online. I would love to get original Herman miller chairs, but settled for these three knock offs. I’m hoping to stumble across some originals at a garage sale or the thrift store some day. I know it’s a stretch but you never know. Someone I know found an eames rocker at a garage sale for $5 once, so you never know!! a girl can always dream, right?!

Anyway, it’s still a work in progress. We need to hang artwork and get seating for the other side of the table. Jesse is going to also build us a bench.
We’re thinking of possibly painting that one wall in front of the table. Not sure yet….And in that second photo, you can see the fireplace – we just realized we need some kind of mantle there and I want to get some new tile, so THAT in iteslef is a project we can hopefully start soon! Anyone know how to hang tile??

The last photo is part of the kitchen. Pretty happy with it as is. We have lots of storage and counter space.  I really wanted to do a backsplash, and this already came with one. Its probably not the colors I would have chosen, but itll do. Dont forsee the need to redo something that doesnt look too bad. Im loving that they painted it teal. And the cabinet pulls are these little crystal balls. Dont think I would have had the guts to pick them, but I’m kind of glad they did. At about 5pm, the light shine through and they make pretty little shapes and rainbows all over. I love the window in front of the sink. Hoping to make a curtain one of these days. I love the big fridge and dishwasher! And water dispenses out of the fridge. THAT is a huge bonus. The oven is electric, which I’m not THRILLED about, but I’m getting used to it.

So that’s what we’ve been working on the past few weeks. There will be lots more to come!
