303. DIY air freshner.

I saw this on pinterest quite a while ago, and finally remembered to pick up some rosemary at the farmers market last week so I can give it a whirl. It is supposed to be the scent they use at the williams sonoma store. Not sure I know what that smell is like, but this smells pretty good. Its kind of subtle though.

Two big sprigs of rosemary, slices of lemon and 1-2 tspn vanilla. Fill half way with water and simmer on very low. Add more water when necessary.

205. house update: milo’s room!

Milo’s room is painted and just about ready. We’re still trying to find a nightstand but other than that everything is in place. We opted not to hang anything framed around his bed since he’ll probably end up knocking it on top of himself. He got a full size bed from his grandma for his birthday and I got him the star wars sheets from pottery barn since I had an unused gift card from our wedding (um…that was almost ten years ago! )

My friend kristen came over and helped me map out the wall with the book shelf. I’m so happy how this turned out!

I hope to eventually finish this dresser for him, but I’m not sure that is going to happen anytime soon unfortunately.

I chose a grey color for his room, but it actually looks more blue than grey. Oops. But overall I’m really happy with how it turned out and so is milo! His words were “wow! It looks really cool!”

Just a little update on the house….

My friend Jesse is amazing and made made us this dining table and delivered it this week! I sent him some ideas a whole back and we back and forth on this is what he came up with. It’s so perfect. I ordered the hairpin legs from a site online. I would love to get original Herman miller chairs, but settled for these three knock offs. I’m hoping to stumble across some originals at a garage sale or the thrift store some day. I know it’s a stretch but you never know. Someone I know found an eames rocker at a garage sale for $5 once, so you never know!! a girl can always dream, right?!

Anyway, it’s still a work in progress. We need to hang artwork and get seating for the other side of the table. Jesse is going to also build us a bench.
We’re thinking of possibly painting that one wall in front of the table. Not sure yet….And in that second photo, you can see the fireplace – we just realized we need some kind of mantle there and I want to get some new tile, so THAT in iteslef is a project we can hopefully start soon! Anyone know how to hang tile??

The last photo is part of the kitchen. Pretty happy with it as is. We have lots of storage and counter space.  I really wanted to do a backsplash, and this already came with one. Its probably not the colors I would have chosen, but itll do. Dont forsee the need to redo something that doesnt look too bad. Im loving that they painted it teal. And the cabinet pulls are these little crystal balls. Dont think I would have had the guts to pick them, but I’m kind of glad they did. At about 5pm, the light shine through and they make pretty little shapes and rainbows all over. I love the window in front of the sink. Hoping to make a curtain one of these days. I love the big fridge and dishwasher! And water dispenses out of the fridge. THAT is a huge bonus. The oven is electric, which I’m not THRILLED about, but I’m getting used to it.

So that’s what we’ve been working on the past few weeks. There will be lots more to come!
