275. more rollerblinds.

I finished my roller blind project! Once again, these were so simple to make. I knocked these two out in less than an hour. I kind of want to make rollerblinds for my whole house now…

273. roller blinds.

Our bedroom came with those cheap, vinyl roller blinds, so shortly after we moved in I bought fabric from Ikea to replace the vinyl with fabric and make roller blinds, using this tutorial. This morning I felt ambitious and thought I would attempt the small window and see what happens. Well, about 20 minutes later, I was done and I think it looks great! I used hot glue to adhere my fabric to the roller, stuck it back up in the window, put the dowel rod in, and just like that instant room make over. I still have to do two more larger windows…then maybe I will finally start hanging art on the walls.

Overall, i was shocked at how fast and easy these came together! If you are considering doing something like this…go for it! I

256. 2 zip hipster bag.

This was the first pattern I have ever purchased. When I saw this reviewed on this blog, I believed I could make it. The instructions are really detailed, and it breaks it down so that someone with basic construction and zipper skills (like me!) can do this! I started out working on it together with my friend Emily, but we ran out of time and were forced to finish it on our own. I worked on it in a few stages, and it is now complete.

I dont think the orange topstitching was a good idea because I’m still kind of messy. ANd i had a little bit of trouble figuring out the top zipper and had to make some ammendments at the end that weren’t in the instructions, but mainly due to me doing something wrong.

I definitely want to take another stab at this bag because it was so fun to make. It makes you feel like you are doing something so complex – it has a pocket inside, an outer pocket, and an outer zipper pocket, adjustable strap – AND the top zips!

211. dog bed.

I sewed this large dog bed for Mr. Maddox this morning using some fabric from Ikea. Its essentially a square cushion, I just didn’t do piping. It has a hidden zipper and I stuffed it with some old pillows and a floor cushion we don’t really use. Maddox took to it immediately. We just all took a nap and when I woke up, he was fast asleep on it! Success!
