embroideredy hoop ornament.

IMG_9354.JPG
I made just one more ornament this holiday season –  I had some of this tiger fabric left over and was trying to think of something to make with it for milo. I threw this little ornament or wall hanging together for him. I think this would be a great idea if you have a piece of an old quilt or pillow or even some baby clothes that are sentimental – I added some embroidery in there since he will most likely use this as an ornament. Came together in no time! Again, the possibilities are endless! All you need is fabric and a small embroidery hoop.

When I saw this tutorial, I knew I would be making this yeti!

It was fairly easy to do, and I finished it in about two hours or so. Most of the sewing is by hand – and I even tried to learn a few of the stitches…. You will need to know blanket stitch, (successful, but was a little messy with it)  whip stitch and ladder stitch (still need help with that one!). I watched short tutorials on you tube that showed me how to do them.

I love this little guy! Usually when I make plushies, I gift them, but I just don’t think I can part with this guy. Even milo tried to claim him, but I just can’t do it. Follow the link above and make your own  yeti!

This is another embroidery project I worked on over the course of two days. I started it one evening and finished it the next. This was really fun and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. And it was some good embroidery practice!

I typed the word “home” in illustrator to size and then taped the fabric to the computer screen and traced it. Then I fine tuned the tracing and got to embroidering, using lots of colors from my stash. I hung it right by the front door and I think it works great in our living room.

Home sweet home!

Here’s some progress photos:

shark monster embroidery.

Just a quick embroidery to do get my craft on. I feel like I have been spending my free time cooking, or crocheting, so I wanted to work on something kind of quick to have a little change of pace. Also, I’ve been kind of embroidery crazed lately – got a few projects in the works actually! I saw this on this blog a while ago, and tried to make something like it. Everything she makes is so adorable and well done. I love her interpretation of the character she creates.

342. abonimable snowman ornament.

Made this guy out of felt after seeing something like it on pinterest. I want to gift it, but I kind of really love him. Makes me want to make many more felt ornaments!

257. ewok plushie.

I found this pattern here and made one in no time for milo. Hoping to hang on to this and put it in his christmas stocking but well see if i cave and give it to him earlier. Pretty cute I must say!

252. krissy and mike’s wedding embroidery.

My good friend krissy is marrying her best friend today! So i embroidered them a little something.

215. embroidered bird.

Today was a rough day. It was my first day commuting on the metra without milo in tow. He started a new daycare, and I didn’t think this would affect me and make me so sad…but I really miss my little train buddy. I tried to pass the time by working on this little embroidered bird. I saw this drawing somewhere last week on the internet and pinned it (but of course I can’t find the pin now…) and I traced it and made it into this little embroidery. This is definitely the most precise I have been with my stitches. I still need work, but it’s getting better. I will probably be doing alot more of these guys on the train rides, since I have 30 minutes each way to kill…

214. c3po coffee cozy.

I made this coffee cozy for dj. Its supposed to be c3po.

Milo said it looks like plex.
Dj asked why he had a moustache.

It’s made out of felt, and lined with some fabric on the inside. I sewed it all up by hand too!

213. embroidered octopus.

I drew and embroidered this little octopus today on my lunch break. Wedding season is kicking my butt at the moment, so I’m trying to make use of any down time I have to create SOMETHING non food related these days. I  have lots of sewing projects on my radar, just don’t have the block of time to work on them.

But I was happy with the way this little guy turned out! I want to do lots and lots more embroidery projects. My biggest problem is getting the images transferred onto the fabric. I’m not good at drawing (but i knocked this little guy out) and the transfer pencils I bought don’t work too well. I need a lightbox!!
