seasame tofu

  • 14 ounces extra firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce (if you like it less spicy, stick with 1 teaspoon)
  • 1/2 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, sliced thinly
  • Start with pressed, extra firm tofu. Cube the tofu and coat with seasame oil and cornstarch and cook in air fryer for about 12 minutes, or until crispy.  Alternatively, pan fry.
  • Mix together all ingredients for sauce.
  • Add some oil to the pan ( seasame oil would be great for this) and add the garlic and cook until soft, but not burning. Add some green onions and cook for about a minute more.
  • Add the tofu to the pan – and add the sauce to the skillet and it should start to thicken immediately. Toss the tofu around to coat then remove from heat. Top with seasame seeds, and serve with steamed brocolli, over rice.

135. seasame seitan.

This is another recipe I kept seeing on pinterest. But it was for seasame chicken. I figured I could easily veganize it and make a delicious dinner using seitan. I added some extra veggies and customized it to make it my own, and it will definitely be a rotating staple in our house!

1/3 cup rice vinegar

1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
2 tablespoons honey (or agave)
1 T soy sauce
1/2 T grated or minced ginger
1 tspn sirachi (or more if you like heat)
red bell pepper, cut into strips
zuchinni cut into strips
Spinach (add whatever veggies you want…carrots would be good too!)
Package of seitan
Seasame oil
seasame seeds
Whole wheat linguine or other noodles

In medium bowl stir together vinegar, green onions, honey, soy sauce, ginger, and siracha and seasame seeds. Set aside to allow flavors to meld.

2. Meanwhile, in large saucepan cook noodles in boiling water until just tender. Drain noodles well and return to saucepan. Drizzle with oil and toss to coat.

3. While noodles are cooking, coat seitan in seasame seeds and cook until ready. Throw in the veggies and cook until desired crunchiness. Add seitan mixture and noodles toss to combine.

4. Transfer to bowls. Top each cilantro and more seasame seeds for serving.

108. ginger scallion noodles.

I keep seeing this post on pinterest and it looks so so good.
Then I remember I dont really like soba noodles. And it has alot of oil in it.
So tonight I made my own variation of something similar. Heres what I did:

Chop a bunch of green onions.
Put it in a bowl with 2 T soy sauce
4 T rice vinegar
1/2 tspn (or more if you like it) minced ginger
1 tspn minced garlic
squirt of siracha (more if you like it hot)
1 1/2 T honey or agave (depending how you swing on the issue)
Black pepper
Juice from half a lime

Boil some water and cook some whole wheat linguine (or noodles of your choice).
Saute some seitan, brocolli, spinach and seasame seeds.

When noodles are done, combine everything in one big bowl. Stir in the sauce. Top with more seasame seeds, cilantro and lime juice.
